Memorize Mondays

I've heard some of you say that you want to join me for memorize mondays but you don't know what scripture to choose so I've given you some ideas below and I hope you join me this week.
Write it down on a 3x5 card, and take 10 minutes a day to read the scripture out loud and I'm sure you will know it by Saturday morning!

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
(Matthew 6:33)

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want (Psalm 23:1)

Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.  (Psalm 119:105)

This week I will memorize
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Have you ever done a "People Search?"

If you type "people search" in the yahoo search engine,
the first thing you will find is...
FREE PEOPLE SEARCH-FIND SOMEONE SPECIFIC

That's how our relationship with God should be...
You should be searching to find someone specific... GOD!
Just like God is searching to find someone specific...YOU!   Now let's think about it, If you've ever searched for someone you know that it takes some effort, you have to take action. Sometimes you have to be diligent. I remember one time my dad kept asking me to search for a friend of his from the army, I wanted to find him so bad because I knew it was important to him. I searched day and night, I searched every state, and I made a lot of phone calls. And guess what? his friend was only 45 minutes away! His friend also said he passed by my dads house for many years on a route to his work. My dad was so happy, and all I had to do was SEARCH! You can't just say "Oh, I want to find Janie Smith" and expect to find her. So I use this analogy to show you it's like our relationship with God, when we want to seek God we need to take action and search for him consistently. To search for God you have to spend time with him in prayer. After you find God, you'll want to allow God to search YOU like David did in Psalm 139:1-3 he said,

O LORD, you have searched me

and you know me.

You know when I sit and when I rise;

you perceive my thoughts from afar.

You discern my going out and my lying down;

you are familiar with all my ways.

Yes! Our God knows everything about us, but are we real enough to say "Here I am God, the liar, the cheater, the sinner, search me, O' God, search me and use me." Today I pray that you really allow God to search the real you as you begin to search him like never before. If you feel like you have something you'd like to share to encourage one another please feel free to leave a comment.

We All Fall Short Fridays

The other day my grandson and I were picking the fruit from my Kumquat tree. It was actually a good time to practice his colors too! He would ask, "Is this orange, jamma?" "No, that's green." I would say. After picking 2 grocery bags full, he knew the 2 colors perfectly! I told him, "Okay now we need to wash our hands". I guess he thought I said we needed to wash the kumquats, so while I went inside he tried to carry the 2 bags!!
As you can see, He had a little problem!

He looked a little nervous like.."Oh no, I'm going to get in trouble"
but being the "Jamma (grandma) blogger that I am
I started laughing and told him to stay right there so I can get my camera!

Let's face it folks, we need to laugh a little! We make mistakes!
In this case it was even fun picking them up!
A day with my grandson..priceless! I love you Mikie!

What's your "fall short" this week?

My Secret Pen & His Revealing

The other day I was reading a new friend's blog and she talked about these little markers that we used as a kid. At Amazon they sell something like them called Spy Pens. Lynn shared how she would often slip away into hidden spaces to sit, read, or write secret coded messages to her younger sister. It brought back so many memories, because I too did that same thing! I had a 2 story clubhouse made out of refrigerator boxes (hey, I lived next to an appliance store!) My clubhouse had plush carpet, and even a lookout hole, for intruders you know? I spent so much time in my secret place and I would write secret messages to my clubhouse buddies, and in return they would do the same. I can still remember the excitement I would have when I seen the message appear!

This simple playtime as a kid was something that I can relate to as an adult today by reading and finding those awesome scriptures that just POP out from the Bible or when God reveals himself to me.

The word “reveal" in the Webster Dictionary means :
1 : to make known through divine inspiration

2 : to make (something secret or hidden) publicly or generally known

3 : to open up to view

Some of the ways God reveals himself is through his written word.
He also reveals himself by providing for those who trust and obey him.
God reveals his caring nature when he says that if we trust and acknowledge him, he will "direct our paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6)

As a  kid I couldn't see the secret message but I knew it was there, as an adult I can't see God but I KNOW that He is there! He has revealed himself in so many ways, but for example recently I prayed for financial help, and we received an overpayment on our escrow (what?)! That's God!

In what way has God REVEALED himself to you?

(This blog was inspired by a sister in Christ, Lynn's blog, check it out if you get a chance.)

Memorize Mondays

Thanks everyone for continuing to memorize scripture with me. I know that committing to memorize scripture can be hard sometimes, so this week I wanted to share with you a website that I find pretty helpful http://www.memorizenow.com/ You can actually use this for anything you want to memorize and it's great for the kids too!
Last week I memorized 2 Tim 3:16-17 and you can see my video at the momtv website
This week I will memorize...

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

But I would really love to memorize this same scripture from the Amplified version, but it's a little long, I'll keep it in prayer.

(Amplified) For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the [a]breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.

I will also keep you in prayer this week as we memorize one more powerful scripture that I know one day we'll be able to share with someone that is in need. Be Blessed!

What scripture will you memorize this week? Post it in the comments!

How Far Will You Go?

I was driving to my doctors office the other day and thought about something I have never thought of..

I started thinking about when I was a teenager and a few boys would walk to my house to visit me (must of been atleast 10 miles) Wow! I never realized how far it was! There were times when they would leave my house when it was dark, and of course we didn’t have cell phones then. (But thats another blog)

Well anyways, what the Lord revealed to me through this is...

"How far will you go? How far will you go for the Lord?" "What will you do?"

Most of the time we tend to say, "Oh, that’s too far!" or "Oh, I can't do that!"

Like really,

Is it too far to go to a neighbor's house and take them a meal?

Is it too much to make a phone call to an elderly lady who can't make it to church anymore?

Is it too far to stop and talk to a girl on the streets because God said so?

These boys that would visit me had something in common, they all wanted to get to know me better. Now mind you they weren't allowed in my house so the full extent of their visit was sitting on the porch and talking!

Just like our relationship with God, we COULD sit on his porch and just talk. But when we really want to get to know him we have to spend some real time with him. Starting with conversations (praying), and what good conversation doesn’t have a good listener?

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them,
and they follow me.
John 10:27
We have to be good listeners! As we begin to know Him better we begin to hear Him better. Soon enough that small voice that we once ignored, is now what directs our paths. That's when the real relationship with Him begins. That's when he uses you to share His heart with others!

I once heard that S + N = M

SUPER + NATURAL = MIRACLES!

HIM + YOU = MIRACLES!

In 2 Kings 5:8-10 The story of Naaman, a man with a choice to keep living with leprosy or go dunk himself in the river 7 times and be healed. Was it too much for him to go dunk himself?

Maybe its not for your healing like Naaman, but maybe for someone else's healing or salvation, would it still be too far?

What is it that God is asking you to do, and you think it's too much or too far? I'd love to hear all about it and keep you in prayer. Also if you have a testimony of situation like this post it! I'd love to hear it!
