Let's Be Real..Is This What I Was Designed For?

Let's be real...

being a stay at home mom wasn't my first desire in life. Okay, yes if my dad read this he would say "As a kid she always said she wanted to have 13 kids and drive around in a motor home!" ( I can hear his voice)
"But I was a kid!"

Seriously, being a single parent for 10 years (with the help of my parents) I never imagined being home ALL day. It wasn't even a thought in my mind that I would want to start my day with cleaning and end my day with cleaning.

But 10 years ago when I married my husband, we had 3 daughters who all attended different schools in a nearby city. That meant that by the time I dropped them off at school, I had about 30 minutes to get to my job on time. After being late to early morning meetings because one of my daughters forgot her shoes at home (yes, her shoes!) or someone forgot to get their field trip slip signed, I finally decided that my job was to be at home. They needed me! Even if it was just to drop them off at school and pick them up! Even though they probably would never admit it, they needed me too. Now 10 years later, I’m still home. So here comes the part that started this blog.

Let's be real... Do you ever ask? Is this what I was designed for?

In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

The thought of Him knowing what I would endure in my day baffles me, like...

"He knew that today I would have to scrape a dirty plate of enchiladas?"

"Get spit up on my shirt from babysitting my granddaughter?"

Our God is a humorous God, don't you think?
But you know what? I'll take it!

I'll follow the plans He has for me! Even though some days feel so blah and boring, it's all about all the other days that I'm used by him to help someone else! That alone makes my JOB well worth it! Sure most jobs give nice incentive packages but none compare to my BOSS, because He is willing on giving me hope for tomorrow, joy for my sorrow and strength for everything I go through. But most of all He knows the plans He has for me and you! All we have to do is say, "I'm here Lord, use me!" Use me to be the best mom I can be, the best friend, the best wife and most of all, use me Lord to speak to those that don't know you!

My advice to you today, start today knowing that God knows the plan for you. Where ever you are, that He knows and has you there for a reason!

Let's be real ladies, do you ever feel like "Is this what I’m designed for?" Or do you have a story that shows the humorous side of God in your life? Please share and be blessed!

Memorize Mondays-Are you in?

Would you like to memorize scripture with me?
Each Monday I will post a scripture I will memorize for the week, and if you would like to join me all you have to do is "comment" below, leaving your name, scripture and translation abbreviation.

example:
Kim, Psalm 31:3 (NIV)
Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.

You can also memorize the same one I picked but it will be nice to see what scripture the Lord puts on each persons heart. To help you I recommend buying index cards, and carrying them with you everywhere you go.

John 15:7
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

I don't know about you but I need his word to remain in me! Sure it may seem hard and a lot of work but I think it will be fun if we do it together! Who's in?

Please note: I will make a video on http://www.momtv.com/ (username: heykimmyg) on each Sunday night to keep myself accountable to God, myself and you! Let's do it! If you have a webcam and want to do the same even better! This will be fun!

We please him

Watch this video first before reading

After wiping my tears from watching this video I began to think about how much our God loves and supports us.

In Galatians 1:15, it states "But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him."

"It pleased him" We please him! You please him!

Just like the mother in this video she is well pleased. She has been pleased and supportive of her child all his/her life. Just like God has been pleased and supportive of us!

I know what it's like to feel that "im so "pleased with her" feeling" as I watched my daughter take her first steps or to be crowned 1st runner up in a pageant. And isnt it awesome to think how our God has been proud and supportive of us all our lives? How he is watching over us today and feeling so proud. He is watching us take on tasks that are beyond us, but he knows we can do it because of the power that lives in us. So he supports us.

Now maybe you feel like you haven't always made him proud or pleased, and that's okay, in Romans 3:23 it says "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous." It's no different for us as parents, our kids won't always make us proud but we still love and support them. They are our babies! We are his babies!

But if that's you and you feel like you haven't pleased him, START TODAY! Now, that doesn't mean you have to go ski down Big Bear mountain and do flips, just find something you can do! (You know the co-worker who looks sad? buy them a coke, just because.)

I encourage you now to watch this again, but picture yourself as these children, practicing, suiting up, leaping off, standing in proudness, and when that mom stands up...visualize our God..and know that he is Pleased!
Today I pray that you are able to feel God's presence and know that you are pleasing to him.

GIVEAWAY: Leave a comment telling me how you felt watching this video or how your kids please you and you could be a winner of the book, Power of the praying parent". Post your comment before 9pm Friday the 19th.

If you say "I do" then "you do"

It was 10 years ago when my husband and I said "I do". I'm going to be honest with you, the "I do's" didnt stop there. Because everyone knows that being married requires a lot of "I do's".
examples: I do make dinner, I do laundry, I do dishes, I do taxi kids around, I do compliment him, I do encourage him, I do support him, I do, I do, I do!

In the bible it states:
Matthew 5:37
Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes', and your 'No', 'No'
This pretty much tells us that if we say "I do" then "You do". "You do" your best, "You do" all you can do, and "You do" because you said "I do".

I love you honey! I really do!

Day3 - Be a Shepherd

Day 3 at Class seminar, and we're asked to pick a scripture from a list. I chose 1 Peter 5:2-4. Once again we had 3 minutes to share. This is how it went:

"Good Morning Ladies, it's great to be amongst all you moms, you are all so beautiful, and you look like royalty!" "Well, when I said, "royalty" a couple of you looked at me like huh?" "me?" "Yes, You! The mom with the drool on her shirt, and the mom with the dark circles under her eyes from staying up late with her child." "You are ROYALTY!"

As moms we are given the responsibility to take care of our children, to go above and beyond. We give and give, and sometimes wonder what we're going to get out of all this sacrifice. All the late night wake up calls, the taxi services, and constant answer to those little voices that call us "mom".

Well, in 1 Peter 5:2-4 (Message) it talks about being a shepherd to our flock. Today our flock is our children. It also talks about us doing it because we want to, not because we have to, but because you want to please God. Not calculating what you can get out of it, but acting spontaneously. Not bossily telling others what to do, but tenderly showing them the way. When God, who is the best shepherd of all, comes out in the open with his rule, he'll see that you've done it right and commend you lavishly. I love the way it is stated in the Today’s English version: it states “that you will receive the glorious crown which will never lose its shine!” Before I shared my message I had placed under each ladies seat, a sheet of paper that had a crown on it, but it was missing the 8 jewels, I asked them to place the following letters as the jewels.

S= show

H=help

E=encourage

P=provide

H=humble

E=examples

R=real

D=disciple

Each letter representing that which is needed to be a good shepherd. Then I asked them to place the crown on their heads so that we could imagine what it would be like when we receive our crown from our Lord, for doing such a good job with our flock. I don't know about you but I was encouraged to be a better shepherd after giving this message. I want to please HIM whom will crown me, don't you?

Giveaway: A $5.00 Starbucks card will be given away to a lucky winner. In order to enter, all you have to do is post your favorite thing you do to take care of "your flock" in the comments below.

Remember: A flock could be anything the Lord gives you to take care of (ex. ministry, your students, kids, husband, workers, etc.)

All entries must be submitted by Tuesday, February 16th at 6pm PST. Winners will be posted on Wednesday morning!

Day 2 at Class Seminar

Day 2 was great! Today's challenge: We had 5 minutes to pick an ad from a magazine and make a 3 minute message. The message I shared was about having the correct key and being able to hear your navigation system. The key being the Lord, and the navigation being his voice. I started it off by acting like I was trying to get in my car, none of the keys in my hand worked. I acted scared because I was in an unknown area and my navigation was of course in the car! Basically sharing that if you don't hold the key, Jesus in your heart, how can you hear his voice? In the Message bible it says, You will have complete and free access to God's kingdom, keys to open any and every door.

Matthew 16:19
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven

The Message version of Proverb3:6 says, Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track.

Proverbs 3:6 (KJV)
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I don't know about you but I don't like to be lost, and if all I have to do is trust him, and he will direct my path, I will do it! Wouldn't you?

Day 1 at Class Seminar

Being a little apprehensive of what to expect at the CLASS seminar held at the Our Savior's Church in Palm Springs, I boldly walked into the room. Approximately 40 ladies from all over the world came here to be taught by Florence Littauer. Now I have to be honest I didn't know anything about "Florence" but as soon as she spoke I knew that I was in the right place. I had been placed at this church, at this time, for this seminar! Her poise, her intelligence and her love for the Lord permeated out of her with every step she took. Her voice captivated me, but also scared me. With sweaty palms I continued to take notes after notes. Soon we gathered into groups. Our group had 6 beautiful ladies, 2 of them being missionaries from Japan & Africa. We had 5 minutes to pick a topic off a list, and put together a 3 minute message to share with the group. I froze up and time started to tick away.I had 3minutes left and I still had no topic. Finally, I surrendered..."Okay Lord, I surrender, I'll share with them what you really want me to share." So I did it, I stood in front of them all and shared that which God had called me to speak about.

1 Cor 7:3
Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her
and likewise also the wife to her husband

It's a topic I've been encouraged to speak about, and will share more with you later, what do you think about it?

A friend loves at all times

Two days ago I get a text from a dear friend and it says,
"OK LADIES I NEED FELLOWSHIP, SAT @ 3pm

I knew what this meant, she needed us. As she would say,” She needed to draw from the well." Whether it be for laughter or tears or just to have a hug when we entered the door, she needed us. I watched as everyone came in and hugged her. Some long hugs, some short but with a big smile. It felt so good to be all together again. I sat in awe of how amazing God is for orchestrating such a great group of ladies.

Not asked to bring anything, we all just did. We had it all: chocolate cake, chips and dip, sodas of every color, pizza, wings and homemade cookies! But most of all, we had friendship!

In Proverbs 17:17 it states that a friend loves at all times. So we are called to love each other when were strong and love each other when we're weak. Today we loved each other by just showing up. We didn’t have to say anything particular because in each of our own ways we said, "I Love you, and I'm here for you!"

We sat around the table and talked about everything from jewelry to the Bachelor show, we learned who baked and who didn’t, who grew up where, and who was going to a Mariah Carey concert! No set program, no time restrictions, just a great "girl time" fellowship!

I had a great time and I'm thankful to have a friend that is real and able to say "Hey it's been awhile and I need you." Because in all actuality I needed her too!

What do you do to show your friend you love them at all times? or what do you plan to do?

Be a "real" friend

Why is it that we can't be "real" with each other?

This is how we do it:

(you)"Hi, How are you?"

(me) "I'm fine, how are you?

(you) "I'm fine!"

Why is it that we can't just say "really" how we are?

I remember one time going into church broken hearted, and weak.

I said to myself, "If someone asks me how I am, I'm just going to really tell them!"

But guess what? No one asked! But I really needed a friend at that time.

I think were all guilty of being too caught up in ourselves and our situations that we forget that we are designed to care and love for one another. But most of all, we need each other!

Like..

A screw and a nut.

A bowl and a lid.

A knife and a fork.

They need each other to do their job to the fullest.

Sure I may "look" like I have it all together, but I don't! There are days I'm not at my best, and wish I had someone to say to me "What's wrong" and that I could be "real" with them. I know there are a lot of Christian women out there that feel the same, but for some reason there are some issues in life that we are too scared to share. (I’m sure I’ll touch on this more in the future) These tough issues however can break us and lead us away from Christ if we don’t watch it.

I don’t know about you but I want to be a friend who can offer both truth and grace. I want to be a friend that will help someone become all that they could be. Like Jesus and the woman caught in adultery.(John 8:7) He protected her, then pointed her in the right direction. We all need a friend who can hear us, lift us up, pray for us, and point us in the right direction. I want to be a friend like Aaron and Hur who held up the hands of Moses when he became too tired. (Exodus 17)

Do you ever wonder how it would be if we all strived to be better friends?
How powerful would our churches be?

Phil 2:1-4 (Message)If you've gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.

There’s a song I thought of while writing this blog "I need you to survive" check it out when you get a chance...Be blessed..

Will you stay outside the gates?

2 kings 7:3-4 (Message Bible) It happened that four lepers were sitting just outside the city gate. They said to one another, "What are we doing sitting here at death's door? If we enter the famine-struck city we'll die; if we stay here we'll die. So let's take our chances in the camp of Aram and throw ourselves on their mercy. If they receive us we'll live, if they kill us we'll die. We've got nothing to lose."

The other day I heard someone share this scripture and it encouraged me so much! It was like the Lord was saying to me, "What do you have to lose?"

I had been struggling with some of the things that the Lord was calling me to do, 1) this blog, 2) twitter 3)vlogs (video blogs) and when I heard Christine Caine quote this scripture, I said to myself..."What DO I have to lose??  NOTHING!

Sometimes we don't do something because we might look foolish, but how foolish did David look with a slingshot when he was facing the Giant? How about Noah..build an ARK? in the desert? Mary, pregnant and no sex? Moses being told to throw down his staff and it will turn into a snake??

God had been faithful all the other times in my life when he has called me to do something, why not now?
So I did it!
I Posted all the blogs I've written on facebook to here. Posted a video to http://www.momtv.com/ and I'm praying to get a live show on that site also!

So, what is it that God is asking YOU to do? What will you do? Will you continue to just stay at the gates and die? or take a chance and do something? what do you have to lose?

Something to remember: Everyone who did somthing great for the Lord, looked foolish! I'm sure whatever He wants you to do will be GREAT!
