Let's Be Real..Is This What I Was Designed For?

Let's be real...

being a stay at home mom wasn't my first desire in life. Okay, yes if my dad read this he would say "As a kid she always said she wanted to have 13 kids and drive around in a motor home!" ( I can hear his voice)
"But I was a kid!"

Seriously, being a single parent for 10 years (with the help of my parents) I never imagined being home ALL day. It wasn't even a thought in my mind that I would want to start my day with cleaning and end my day with cleaning.

But 10 years ago when I married my husband, we had 3 daughters who all attended different schools in a nearby city. That meant that by the time I dropped them off at school, I had about 30 minutes to get to my job on time. After being late to early morning meetings because one of my daughters forgot her shoes at home (yes, her shoes!) or someone forgot to get their field trip slip signed, I finally decided that my job was to be at home. They needed me! Even if it was just to drop them off at school and pick them up! Even though they probably would never admit it, they needed me too. Now 10 years later, I’m still home. So here comes the part that started this blog.

Let's be real... Do you ever ask? Is this what I was designed for?

In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

The thought of Him knowing what I would endure in my day baffles me, like...

"He knew that today I would have to scrape a dirty plate of enchiladas?"

"Get spit up on my shirt from babysitting my granddaughter?"

Our God is a humorous God, don't you think?
But you know what? I'll take it!

I'll follow the plans He has for me! Even though some days feel so blah and boring, it's all about all the other days that I'm used by him to help someone else! That alone makes my JOB well worth it! Sure most jobs give nice incentive packages but none compare to my BOSS, because He is willing on giving me hope for tomorrow, joy for my sorrow and strength for everything I go through. But most of all He knows the plans He has for me and you! All we have to do is say, "I'm here Lord, use me!" Use me to be the best mom I can be, the best friend, the best wife and most of all, use me Lord to speak to those that don't know you!

My advice to you today, start today knowing that God knows the plan for you. Where ever you are, that He knows and has you there for a reason!

Let's be real ladies, do you ever feel like "Is this what I’m designed for?" Or do you have a story that shows the humorous side of God in your life? Please share and be blessed!

I do have to say that as I grew up I always wanted to be a mom. My parents worked a lot and we often did not see them a whole lot. we attended a private school where the bus would pick us up for school, take us to our afternoon sports and drop us off by about 5:00 every night. Because my parents worked so often my mother was always yelling at us for something and I knew young that I wanted to be a mom and be better at it. I enjoyed working with Children very young and started in R.O.P working with Children with disablitlies. Atfer 12 years working with the kids I found it was time to stay home with my own. I now have 5 kids and love every minute of it. Although I do enjoy working with adults and have earned 2 degrees in business I still feel like I need to be home. Like any other mom I do have those days where I want to pull out my hair one at a time. One kid sick, the other grumpy and so on. I feel very blessed to have my children and to be able to stay home with many people would like to do that and can't. This is what I was designed to be ...a mom

I too Kim was a single parent. When I married my second husband and became pregnant, he asked, you'll be quitting your job right?(had been with the postal service for 12 yrs). I felt that was my sense of stability. With much hesitation and arguing, I took that leap of faith. God knew his plans for me, but I didn't even want to start the process of understanding his plans. The story goes on. About a year later I gave in and embraced my calling!! What a true blessing. I was truly meant to be a wife and mother. I have a little part-time, part-time (1 1/2 hrs) job at the school, but would have no time to have a full-time job. My family is my full-time job. I'm so greatful I had the opportunity to experience this great calling in life. I'm now looking forward to the next season he has prepared me for, because I know there is much more to come. Just thought I would share. Love and prayers, Ralphetta

What great thoughts.... I agree...we have to live each moment of each day with our eyes fixed on Him... His plan and purpose for our lives far exceeds what we could imagine... even when we think it is dull. ;)
