After the gym this morning I read an article in the Parade magazine about how presidents win the nominations. I thought it was very interesting and I asked myself, "Now how can I use this info to better myself today?"
The article mentioned 6 things that you must do...
1.) Observe the incumbent, then be the opposite. Basically the more different you can be from the guy who is currently in office the better. It also said that Americans crave honesty.
What I got out of that is this: Be different from everyone else (the world), be bold enough to stand out for Christ and with all your might be honest.
Luke 16:10 - "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much."
2) Be able to deliver your message in seven seconds.
I've heard this before..."have an elevator speech."
Basically the amount of time that you are in the elevator with someone, you should be able to tell someone what you do (business/ministry) or what you believe in. ( practice this!)
3) Show some humanity. The article stated that people are skeptical of anything a political candidate says, so its more important to be human than perfect. David Axelrod said of Perry, "He looks comfortable in his own skin."
wow, do you feel comfortable in your own skin?? we should!! because the bible says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made; and His works are wonderful. Psalm 139:14
I think one of the things us ladies need to do is believe like God believes in us! and if we did that we would be more than comfortable in our skin and be more radiant than any skin care commercial!
4) Be Bold.
Enough said! Be Bold! Be Confident!
Hebrews 10:35 -36 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
5) Prepare for the Big Moments
Wow, what can I say about this??? Prepare! Prepare! Prepare! Are you prepared? Are you prepared for the outpouring that God is going to do in your life? What will you do when those floodgates of heaven open up?
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.
Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.
This one truly excites me!!!
6) Always be a happy warrior
One of the things the article said is that running for president is brutal- its like running naked through a cactus patch on fire. That the process is designed to crush you and see what you are made of...
As Christians sometimes it feels just like that! However God truly wants to know what are you made of, who will you stand for, will you be crushed? Or will you stand? Will you persevere?
I love to be reminded that we are more than conquerors in christ Jesus (Romans 8:37), that we are the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13), that we don't need to be the victim but that we are the VICTOR! So be strong and courageous and that warrior that God has created you to be! You truly are a winner!
So I encourage you today, ask yourself am I set up to win? What do I have to do to win? Do I have changes to make? Then Pray and Do it! You are a winner! Be blessed today my friends!

What Will You Sacrifice?
There's something about the story of Hannah, a story of a lady who was barren that I'd like to share with you. A woman who knew what sacrifice meant. In 1 Samuel Chapter 1 it says the Lord had closed her womb. She was not able to bear any children. This problem caused her alot of heartache and in verse 10 it says she was greatly distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly.
There are things to think about when reading this story:
1) He will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
2) He knows your thoughts
Psalm 139:2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
Proverbs 16:3 (Amplified) Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.
Okay so in 1 Samuel 1:13 it says she was speaking in her heart, only her lips were moving but her voice was not heard.
Have you ever prayed to God about something and wondered if He heard you? Note to you: don’t ever doubt or wonder if God hears you…if He can hear from a woman that no words came out he can hear from you too!
Hannah wanted to have a baby so bad that she was willing on sacrificing it to the Lord if he would allow her to give birth.
Stop and think about it....Before she even had the baby she was willing on sacrificing it!
Ask yourself, what is it in your life that you are willing on sacrificing to the Lord to have one of your desires of your heart or dreams become a reality?
Something else I wanted you to see…
In 1Samuel 1:24 the bible talks about how she weaned the child before she took him to be sacrificed. I believe not only did she wean him, but she wean herself! If you have given birth to a baby you know how hard it is to go back to work when your child is small, or little alone when they go to preschool or kindergarten for the first time! ( I cried more than she did!) It wasn’t something that Hannah was able to do right away, it took her sometime. I believe she had to wean herself and him!
And I think that speaks to certain people, maybe you’re having a hard time to stop drinking or smoking but you want to sacrifice it for the Lord, who knows maybe your addicted to something else. Maybe you know God wants you to deal with this anger you have, before you can move to the next level.
Don’t get discourage! You can do it! Wean yourself! Delight yourself in the Lord!
The next thing I wanted you to see was that not only did she take up her son as a sacrifice, she aslo took up a 3year old bull and one enaph of flour and a jug of wine. (One ephah of flour = Seven gallons and a half.) imagine that!
I believe because she knew that it was God that had allowed her to conceive, that she was not just going to to give what she had promised but because she was so happy, and so grateful for what God had done for her that she would give even more!
You see we have to be different from the normal person, because a normal person would just give what they said they would sacrifice but someone who knows and can truly see that what you have is not yours and what you have is because of the Lord….then that is when you should give even more!
Hannah in 1Samuel 2:21 she understood this…and because of her sacrificing she was able to give birth to three sons and two daughters and meanwhile her son Samuel grew before the Lord. and not only that but in 2Samuel 2:26 it says that Samuel was growing in stature and in favor both with the Lord and with men.
In closing I'd like to share with you that Samuel means “God has heard” or "God heard"

When You're Still
Ever notice when you're still that you hear things that you normally would'nt hear? That you see things that you would not normally see in a busy day? Take a moment right now and silence the tv, put down your phone, lower your radio. (wait just 1 minute, okay 30 seconds)
Just close your eyes and listen...What did you hear?
In today's society it's hard to have a moment of silence, little alone be still. Because if you're anything like me my cell phone is constantly getting texts or notifications, and twitters etc. My house is always full of sounds. Let's face it, it's even hard now a days to have a conversation with someone because they are constantly doing something on their phones. (agree?)
Sometimes we wonder why we don't see God in our situations, why we don't hear God in our lives. Could it be that we are too busy? Too busy making things happen... and not being still?
The word still in the dictionary means the following:
1. remaining in place or at rest; motionless; stationary: to stand still.
2. free from sound or noise, as a place or persons; silent: to keep still about a matter.
3. subdued or low in sound; hushed: a still, small voice.
Think about it, when you are NOT still, you're to busy to listen...
when you are NOT still you are trying to do it on your own..
But when you ARE still you allow God to do His part, you allow God to take over.
That is kind of how God wants us to be when he calls for us to be still. Still enough for Him to do what he needs to do. (Not being lazy, but just still) Waiting on the Lord. Listening to Him!
Psalm 27:14
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
It is when we are still that we know that He is God... when we allow Him to take on our cares, when we allow Him to go to battle for us and when we allow Him to heal us.
This blog is for me too, I can get really busy and though I try to be guided by him daily, there are situations I sometime just want to take care of right now.
But it's when you know that He is saying "Be Still", that's when you need to just trust in him.
Philippians 1:6 says it best.. "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
So today I encourage you to be still.
As a kid we were taught to Stop, Drop and Roll the fire out, today I challenge you to "Stop", Listen, and Let God!" be still and be blessed!

Did You Yawn Today?
By now I know you "yawned". A yawn is a reflex of simultaneous inhalation of air and stretching of the eardrums, followed by exhalation of breath. Yawning is associated with tiredness, stress, overwork, lack of stimulation, and boredom. In humans, yawning has an infectious quality (i.e., seeing a person yawning, talking to someone on the phone who is yawning, or just thinking of yawning can trigger yawning)
You're probably "yawning" right now!
So what is this blog about? a "YAWN"
The word Yawn dates to c.1300
from Old English 'Ginian' and 'Gionian' meaning to
"Open the mouth wide, gape,"
This morning I was reading and ran across the scripture Psalm 81:10
I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.
I thought to myself...WOW! Open your mouth wide, when we open our mouth wide it's like a yawn.
When we yawn we INHALE then EXHALE!
So here goes my visual thinking, the YAWN!
We need to YAWN, acronym: You Allow Words N (the N sounds like IN!)
First of all, we need to allow words, the WORD of God in us, then we can start to exhale them!
After this morning's reading time with the Lord, I know I'll actually think more about "yawning".
You see I yawn everytime I wake up...
I yawn when Im tired...
and I yawn just before going to bed at night.
So from now on when I "yawn",
I'll ask myself and I hope you ask yourself...
As I open my mouth and yawn in bed...
"Did I inhale his words this morning?"
Mid-day when I yawn, I'll ask myself...
"Do I need a little something from the Lord right now
because I'm getting tired"
and He says He will be my strength when Iam weak.
At night before resting my head upon my bed, and I yawn...
I will make sure that my last inhale will be full of Him,
so my sleep will be so peaceful.
This is just my thought today on a "yawn" be blessed and encouraged in all you do and remember to YAWN! Inhale to exhale all for Jesus!

"Okay God, I Get It!" Submissions
As many of you may know, I have a book in development called "Okay God, I Get It". This book is going to be a compilation of stories that people have had where they finally get to the point in their lives where they say,
"Okay God, I Get It".
I'm sure many of you can tell me stories for hours like this and that's why I believe this book needs to be written. The uniqueness of this book is going to show how God speaks or shows up in each persons lives in so many different ways. For one of you it may be a small still voice and to another it may be a bus that passes by and the advertisement says something that makes you click and say "Okay God, I Get it!"
I'm going to ask you to look at the BIG picture with me for a minute, imagine you or someone walking into a tea/coffee house and there sitting on the table is this book, "Okay God, I Get It!" For one it draws curiosity...then the reader picks it up..flips through this book and inside are pages and pages of short stories. This book will not only encourage people but will make their "Okay God, I Get it" moment more real to them. We all have them, now let's share them!
I'm always looking for new stories and hope you have some for me to consider. If you are interested in participating, you can submit your story by emailing me. PS. If your story gets picked to be in the book, you will get a FREE copy! Let's do this!

My Dream Reminded Me
"What was that dream about?"
That is what happened to me this morning, and this is how the dream went:
I was actually attending a Teen Challenge women's event, it's funny but I remember actually seeing Janie Cookes! (too funny, only God knows what that means!) In my dream I forgot my camcorder so I went back to my truck to get it. While on my way to the truck I seen this big-headed ferocious pitbull heading towards me.
As he came closer I could hear him barking, and I thought to myself "Oh my, I think he's going to bite me!" Well he did! He bit my hand, but the strange thing was...it didn't hurt! As strange as it sounds, he actually seemed soothed and calm with my hand in his mouth. With my hand in his mouth, I was actually able to continue what I was doing. I was amazed that I wasn't in pain as I could see his sharp teeth in my hand. Then I woke up!
Laying on my bed I asked God, "What was that dream all about?" In my spirit I felt like this dream was to remind me of Luke 10:19
Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.
I felt encouraged to walk in the power that the Lord has given me, to not fear even though at times I feel like I face such BIG ferocious bites! But in actuality I am the one the enemy shall fear! (amen!)
Just thought I'd share my dream with you, and encourage you to remember that our God has given us the power to conquer all situations and things that try to defeat us! You have been equipped with everything you need to accomplish your warfare; everything you need to combat the enemy and not just combat him but to be victorious over him.
So I ask you this question today...if you possess this power, then what are you waiting for? Arise in power and take authority! love yah!

I feel like a BIG sticky note!
Well ladies, I think it's going to be one of those days! Before I even came downstairs I already had accumulated 18 things on my to do list. I have sticky notes on my computer and on my phone, I even sent myself a memo in an email!
Post a new blog! (check!)
Clean shower head (use vineager to disolve built up grime!) yuck!
Clean the Shower!
Dust bathroom blinds
Dust room
Dust Blinds
finish Chairs
make a Craigslist ad
reupholster Stool
Tea stuff
place an order for Uppercaseliving
Print and hang up pictures
Buy Aplliance spray
Make a lasagna
Ribbon for my st pattys day tray
Buy a St pattys hat!
Repaint chalkboard wall
Buy a paint roller
Buy a paint for cabinets
However not every one of the tasks needs to get done today but If I want to stay on top of things I have to keep them on my list! Otherwise they'll end up being like the "vent cover" that never got put back on the wall after I painted. (note to myslef...add that to your to do list!)
I'm sure all you ladies can relate? or am I the only one?
I don't think so!
With a note so long, even a woman with an assistant can get overwhelmed! So what do we do? We need to remind ourselves that we have the exact same amount of time that were given to Helen Keller, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. We can do this! One task at a time!
I think what happens is we get so distracted by our cell phones, facebook, and texting.
If you have a list of things to do and feel a little overwhelmed today, try to turn your phone off for atleast an hour. You would be amazed with what you will accomplish in just 60 minutes!
A good friend suggested to me yesterday that I should get a "Do Not Disturb" sign for my bedroom. So when I need to study that I can hang the sign on my door. I thought it was silly but I may just give that a try!
We need to find ways to help us get all those things done so we can be the women that God designed us to be. So ultimately we can open up our schedules to be used by Him!
Today let's choose to use our next 24 hours to be productive not only for our business, self, home etc, but for God...put him on your list!
So now that I have one thing off my list (my blog) I'll venture to tackle a few more while anxiously excited to leave room on the sticky note for God. Have your way Lord! Have a great productive day ladies!

What's Inside You?
The other day I ran across this website Tagxedo it actually grabs information from your blog or website and creates an image with it. This is what was created for me, and I love it!
It seriously made me think, Wow, people see what and who you are!
In Philippians 4:8 (NIV) it says, Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Cleaning House
Yesterday I was cleaning my house when I did that one thing every woman shouldn't do! You know the task that leads to another, which leads to another? We'll I did it...I moved out the fridge to clean behind it!
To my surprise I ran into a few invitations,
three magnets and a lot of DUST!
I took a picture right away because this is how our lives are with Christ. To others we look like were all clean but behind the scenes and behind the smiles, we have some issues (dust) that God wants to clean out. This was not a job I had planned to do today, and that's how we feel sometimes when God brings up an issue that we don't particularly want to deal with.
We try to "keep the dust hidden" we say its okay no one can see it!
But just because other people cant see it doesn't mean its not there!
God sees it! And He wants to clean you up!
Picture it like this:
When you pay a very high price for something you want to make sure it is "kept up" and you protect it. That is what God wants to do with you. He owns you and it’s time to begin the work of claiming and cleaning up what He has paid for. God actually wants to go in each room, He wants to go through your junk, He wants to clean up your mess!
It’s called sanctification.
When He sets you apart and starts cleaning you up.
It doesn't always feel good, but in the end you'll feel GREAT!
To get my floor cleaned it actually took a few spot to be scrubbed,
are you willing on allowing him to "scrub you?"
So that you too can be nice and shiny and NEW?
1 John 1:8: "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."
I pray that you allow God to start searching in those areas you know need to be cleaned.

The Cake
Today, my husband has volunteered ME to bake a cake for his men's ministry meeting tonight. I just love him! Especially because he didn't ask me first! But it's okay I still love him! Just thought I'd share with you our conversation about this and then what the Lord put on my heart to share with you!
(Here's the conversation we had about this.)
"Well... yes"
"Babe, you can't do that!"
"But can you babe...please?" (notice the "cute little tilt of his head and a pouty lip")
argh "okay babe, I'll do it!"
So when I started thinking of all I had to do today, it made me think about the story of the cake, where a daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.
Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, "Absolutely Mom, I love your cake."
"Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers.
"Yuck" says her daughter.
"How about a couple raw eggs?"
"Gross, Mom!"
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"
"Mom, those are all yucky!"
The story continues when the mother replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves but when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!
God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!
Just like I have to put all the proper ingredients in the cake for it to turn out well, He has already done the same in you and I, enjoy the piece of cake He has given you today and remember...
(Here's the conversation we had about this.)
"Hey Kim, can you bake us a cake?"
"Well, I'm kind of busy babe" (then I noticed his face changed...) "Oh no...Babe, did you already tell the guys you're bringing a cake?"
"Well... yes"
"Babe, you can't do that!"
"But can you babe...please?" (notice the "cute little tilt of his head and a pouty lip")
argh "okay babe, I'll do it!"
So when I started thinking of all I had to do today, it made me think about the story of the cake, where a daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.
Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, "Absolutely Mom, I love your cake."
"Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers.
"Yuck" says her daughter.
"How about a couple raw eggs?"
"Gross, Mom!"
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"
"Mom, those are all yucky!"
(my cake in the process, just the mix, water, 6 eggs, and some oil. doesn't look to good huh?)
The story continues when the mother replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves but when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!
God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!
Just like I have to put all the proper ingredients in the cake for it to turn out well, He has already done the same in you and I, enjoy the piece of cake He has given you today and remember...
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together
for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose.
