Just close your eyes and listen...What did you hear?
I heard my water fountain outside, and a few birds passing by.
In today's society it's hard to have a moment of silence, little alone be still. Because if you're anything like me my cell phone is constantly getting texts or notifications, and twitters etc. My house is always full of sounds. Let's face it, it's even hard now a days to have a conversation with someone because they are constantly doing something on their phones. (agree?)
Sometimes we wonder why we don't see God in our situations, why we don't hear God in our lives. Could it be that we are too busy? Too busy making things happen... and not being still?
The word still in the dictionary means the following:
1. remaining in place or at rest; motionless; stationary: to stand still.
2. free from sound or noise, as a place or persons; silent: to keep still about a matter.
3. subdued or low in sound; hushed: a still, small voice.
Think about it, when you are NOT still, you're to busy to listen...
when you are NOT still you are trying to do it on your own..
But when you ARE still you allow God to do His part, you allow God to take over.
Picture yourself still... are you laying on a couch? a lounge chair? are your arms limp? are your feet kicked up? No worries?
Psalm 27:14
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
It is when we are still that we know that He is God... when we allow Him to take on our cares, when we allow Him to go to battle for us and when we allow Him to heal us.
This blog is for me too, I can get really busy and though I try to be guided by him daily, there are situations I sometime just want to take care of right now.
But it's when you know that He is saying "Be Still", that's when you need to just trust in him.
Philippians 1:6 says it best.. "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
So today I encourage you to be still.
As a kid we were taught to Stop, Drop and Roll the fire out, today I challenge you to "Stop", Listen, and Let God!" be still and be blessed!
